BTS moved by Billboard Hot 100 entry, thanks fans for support

Members of K-pop band BTS said Wednesday they were deeply moved by their first-ever entry into the Billboard Hot 100 chart, tipping their hats off to fans for support, according to its agency Wednesday.

On Tuesday, BTS' latest song "DNA" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, the American music publication's main music chart, at 85th, backed by 5.3 million first-week US streams and 14,000 downloads.

"Love Yourself: Her," the EP record that holds "DNA," debuted on the Billboard 200, which tracks US album sales, at No. 7 on Monday.

"I'm deeply moved. Its more surprising and strange since I didn't expect such a result. I thank the fans for realizing my childhood dream," member Suga said in a statement released by Big Hit Entertainment.

Leader Rap Monster added, "It is a great honor as an artist and I'm also very proud and deeply moved since its a song in Korean. It will be the one of the most memorable days in my life."

Jin also gave credit to the fans. "Even if we make music, someone has to listen to it to move up the chart. We're always truly grateful for ARMY," the singer said, referring to the band's global fan base.

BTS is the second K-pop act to have a Korean-language song on the Hot 100, following South Korean rapper-singer PSY, whose smash hit "Gangnam Style" peaked at No. 2 for seven weeks in 2012.
