The music video for "IDOL" by BTS (BTS) surpassed 700 million views on YouTube. It is already the fourth time that the number of views has surpassed 700 million.
The agency Big Hit Entertainment said on the same day that the music video for "Idol," released by BTS in August 2018, exceeded 700 million views on YouTube at 11:40 a.m. on the 16th.
After "DNA," "Poetry for the Little Things," and "FAKE LOVE," the number of views surpassed 700 million for the fourth time.
The "Idol" music video features sensuous images borrowed from the tropical savanna grassland and Bukcheong lion play and colorful graphics.
With the music video, BTS also won the "Music Video of the Year" award at the 2018 E! People's Choice Awards, an award ceremony for American music, movies and TV, in November 2018.
"Idol" is the title track of BTS's repackaged album "Love Yourself Gyeol Answer." It features traditional Korean music chimes such as "Ulssu is good" and "I like Jihwaja," and performances combined with samulnori and mask dance.
At the time of its release, it ranked 11th on the U.S. main single chart "Hot 100" and 21st on the British official single chart "Top 100."
