The music video for "IDOL" by the group BTS (BTS) has surpassed 800 million views.

According to the agency Big Hit Entertainment on the 33rd, the number of views on YouTube for "IDOL," the title track of the repackaged album "LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer," released in August 2018, exceeded 800 million at 6:14 p.m. the previous day. Pop star Nicky Minaj has more than 900 million views, including the number of views on the music video of the version in which he participated in the featuring.

This marks the fifth 800 million-viewed music video for BTS after "DNA," which has surpassed 1.1 billion views, "Boy With Luv," "Feat. Halsey," and "FAKE LOVE" and "Mic Drop" remixes, which have previously surpassed 800 million views.

Shortly after its release, "Idol" proved its global popularity by ranking 11th on the U.S. Billboard's "Hot 100" and 21st on Britain's "Official Single Chart."

BTS also won the "Music Video of the Year" award at the "2018 E! People's Choice Awards," an award ceremony for American music, movies and TV, held in November 2018.

The "Idol" music video features sensuous images borrowed from the tropical savanna grassland and Bukcheong lion play and colorful graphics. It has added Korean elements such as performances that combine samulnori and mask dance, and chimes such as "Ulssu is good," "I like Jihwaja," and "Dunggiduk Kungdler."

Earlier in September, BTS unveiled its "Idol" performance in the front yard of Geunjeongjeon Hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace on NBC's popular show "The Tonight Show Starling Jimmy Fallon."
